As many of you know by now, GRR! held a virtual Coffee + Chat on 2/21/24, and we were excited for Plan C’s presentation on abortion pills by mail in the US.
Regrettably, just a few minutes into our discussion, the wonderful Plan C speaker was interrupted by an unwelcome intrusion, commonly referred to as “Zoom bombing,” by anti-abortion individuals using racist, antisemitic, homophobic and misogynist hate speech. This incident forced us to prematurely end our call, as GRR! and Plan C both have zero tolerance for hatred and for violations of our community spaces.
In response to February’s incident, we moved to a “webinar” model for our rescheduled Coffee + Chat and implemented enhanced security measures, like stricter monitoring of the “chat” function and of participant entry into the space. Our commitment to creating a secure and anti-oppressive environment for our discussions remains unwavering.
So last week, we had the pleasure and honor of once against hosting Plan C, and learning about the state of abortion pills by mail! Here are some highlights from that lovely, illuminating discussion:
Plan C is a public health creative campaign, working to transform abortion access in the United States by normalizing the self-directed option of abortion pills by mail.
Plan C’s Vision: A near future in which the ability to end an early pregnancy is directly in the hands of anyone who seeks it.
While not a direct care provider, Plan C is a resource that helps to educate folks around self-managed abortion, telehealth abortion care, and the mechanics of medication abortion protocols. Armed with accurate information about our rights and our health–and about all of the laws and enforcement mechanisms which seek to surveil and control those things–we can keep each other safe.
Amy Merrill, Plan C’s co-founder and co-director, generously shared her knowledge with GRR!s (and our loved ones and community members) for an hour-long conversation that ran the gamut from the basic medical facts about abortion pills to strategies for community safety and resources for legal protection.

You can watch the recording of this wonderful Coffee + Chat here, and learn more about Plan C and abortion pills by mail on the organization’s website, www.PlanCPills.org.

And what about this uncertain and unpredictable election year, and about the coming SCOTUS ruling on Mifepristone, one of the pills Plan C helps to educate the public on?
Well, Amy promised, Plan C is–just like GRR!–unshaken and unshakable. Our intergenerational work continues–and so does our organizations’ support for and collaboration with one another, to co-create the future we all deserve!
Onward together, and thank you so much Plan C!
